  • Interconnected trailer emerging as key element in flow of goods
  • Comprehensive transparency in the transport chain for fleet operators and shippers
  • Data gathered from trucks, trailers, vans and swap bodies presented in a single interface

Munich/Ulm, 08.05.2017 --- Digital connectivity is radically changing the significance of the trailer in the supply chain. No longer a mere appendage of the tractor unit, the trailer has advanced to become an integrated and intelligent contributor to goods flow management. The BPW subsidiary idem telematics has therefore extensively refined its online portal cargofleet. Version 3 of the portal will be making its public debut at the transport logistic trade fair and is already available online. Existing cargofleet users can easily upgrade free of charge – no new software or hardware components are required.

This eagerly awaited third generation of the online portal offers much greater diversity and an even more intuitive user interface. Based on open system architecture with full compatibility, irrespective of the vehicle manufacturer, cargofleet 3 interconnects hybrid fleets, fleet operators, dispatchers and drivers, exports data gathered from trucks, trailers, vans and swap bodies, and displays the relevant information on a menu-driven interface that is now even easier to use. The goal is to achieve comprehensive transparency throughout the transport process, encompassing the demand-driven processing, graphic display and exporting of all data concerning the freight order, transport operation, road behaviour and cargo as required by the target group. Using the cargofleet driver app, the driver can also retrieve all the data concerning the order, vehicle, trailer and cargo on a mobile Android tablet.

Cool customer – cargofleet 3 brings together logistics and the cold chain
The availability of additional real-time information enables fleet operators and shippers to sharpen their competitive edge. cargofleet 3 evaluates data gathered from the vehicle, trailer, van or swap body and order, alongside driver data – and is already equipped for the big data revolution in the transport sector. The information presented in the portal includes temperatures, TPMS and EBS data, and the coupling status. In the temperature-controlled transport segment, for example, cargofleet 3 permanently monitors the reefer and temperature recorder, and immediately gives notice of undesirable temperature variations. In addition the seamless temperature data can also be documented, evaluated and further processed for each individual order. Cargo quality assurance during the journey is expected to play a significant role in future. BPW Group is already trialling numerous new sensor components capable of capturing even more precise real-time information relating to the truck and its cargo.

In addition, data acquired from the tractor unit are transferred to the portal via the standardised FMS interface.

The first national and international clients are already putting the new portal through its paces in their everyday haulage operations and are highly impressed by its ease of use, extensive functionality and clarity.
